YOU ARE STILL BEAUTIFUL.....

I am distracted these days. Home alone, and not enjoying it. God is here though, and Jesus talks to me through his Word.

If your love is still with you, tell them you love them before they are gone.

THE MEN OF "ESSENTIAL SERVICES" ARE STILL TRUCKING

Do you know a truck driver who is still driving?

Those fellows are faithfully carrying the tomatoes from Nogales to Omaha. They are also carrying the masks and ventilators through the night, probably fudging on their log book, to get the load to hospitals in Louisiana and LA. Thank God for the cop who learns what's in the load, checks the log book, hands it back, and says, "Keep moving, trucker."

If you know a truck driver, he should be raised up near the top of your prayer list. They are having hard times caused by all the rest areas being closed..... nowhere to stop and conveniently sleep for a couple of hours. And, no restrooms for many miles. Restaurants at fueling stops are closed. And, their partner driver is home under quarantine.

And, the people they are forced to deal with in loading and unloading areas could be infected with the virus and put them off the road and make them unemployed.

When you pick up a tomato at the super market, how about breathing a prayer for the trucker who hauled it to you? God knows who he is.

Without these men, America would come to a dead stop in about three days. You Americans must forgive me for cheating and using an Aussie trucker in the video. The song just says it all, and it exalts manliness.

Hey, you in the Peterbuilt, thanks, and God bless you, sir. Take care of yourself please. We love ya, and we need ya.

THE OLD SONGS WOULD BE HATED TODAY

Here is a  song from 1959 sung by The Browns. If this song were played today by a disc jockey he would probably be fired. No F bombs, no hate, no rage. Furthermore, the music genre is that of a ballad, and the modern world hates ballads.

Times have changed, have they not?

And, falling in love was sung about without the exaltation of copulation:

It is no longer tolerable to the modern mind to even think those thoughts, let alone sing about them.

But, we had our lighter moments. I notice that there is no humor or silly moment allowed in modern popular music. People are so filled with rage and hate that they will not be made to laugh.

Ray Stevens sings this 1959 song first sung by the Coasters.

And strangely, the big band from the jazz era was still allowed on the hit parade. Ray Anthony's orchestra plays The Peter Gunn Suite in 1959, and the teenie boppers loved it. Not a chance this would happen today.

I leave you with a mia culpa.

We were at times a bit mad though. Certain nut case songs slipped through, and the kids went bonkers for them. The girls sitting in the back of the bus chomping on celery from a baggy, and a transistor radio to their ear, would sing right along like this song made sense:

While this was going on in 1959 I was totally distracted by the 1940s. I wanted music that was based in real skill and creativity, and this is the song that has to be the hall mark of the 40s, which was also called The Swing Era..... In The Mood performed by the Glenn Miller Band.

But, I am no the only one who still has the warm fuzzies for the 1950s.

CHECK OUT THIS RECENT PERFORMANCE OF BLUEBERRY HILL

I end with a comment on YouTube under the Glenn Miller video:
"Men dressed better, gentlemen were appreciated and things were just a lot slower. I think the information age has ripped us from the fundamentals that make people happy." Graham Tait
Glenn Miller was dressed, in the photo, in a US Military uniform because he was on tour playing for US troops in Europe.
