So now, they have started over again from square one. This is the utter stupidity of the Democracy we now have. Really urgent issues of security that take massive effort are not of interest until after they happen. This is why the levee protecting New Orleans from the sea in the event of a hurricane was not able to save them, and the levee protecing the city from Lake Pontchartrain was so weak. It would take money and some serious zeal to really protect the city. So, AFTER many died during Katrina they dopes finally saw the light.
The point is, we are totally unprepared for a serious EMP attack. Power companies make no preparations and claim the government must do the prep. Americans are not told how to prepare for an attack. And, there are still idiots out there talking about what to do if you know an EMP attack is coming. This is only useful for an EMP from the sun. An EMP nuke will be a total surprise and prep needs to be done well before the attack.
I have listed articles below where I talk about an EMP attack. But, I will review a few things for you:
1. You will need at least three years of food and essentials. You will need to determine where you will have toilet facilities. Two studies have estimated that 90% of all Americans will die of starvation or dehydration after an EMP. This is because of the chaos and helplessness of Americans living in large cities.
2. You need to have a water source for you and any one you care about. All your neighbors will probably not prepare, and you need to think of them.
3. You will need to defend yourself against marauders who spread out from nearby cities looking for food and looting. There will also be small kingdoms established by thugs and criminals who simply lust for power. With no law enforcement, anything can happen. It takes at least five or six adults in a frame of mind to shoot to kill to guard a location. Consider making a joint arrangement with either neighbors, family, or someone to move to your location after the attack. Offer them tents and help to survive as an incentive. You simply must have 24/7 guarding posted ready to kill. Also, you cannot have too much ammo and fire power. Make a plan to isolate your area from the outside world by either ditching roads or posting guards. Trees can be felled to block roads. Plan a survival destination to escape to if your area becomes inundated by criminals.
4. You need a plan to walk home from work. You need a back pack with a gun, water, and some food for this. Think of anything you would need to make this journey.
5. If you live in a city like New York City or Los Angeles, you need a plan to walk out of the city to the country side where farms are. In LA you will probably simply not make it. But, you could walk from Manhattan to farm country in New Jersey if you are in fair to good shape. Have a wheel chair on hand for older people you will need to help to safety. Once you are sure an outage is caused by an EMP (use an AM radio), get out of the city as fast as possible. If you hang around, you will be raped, robbed, or murdered by looters and thugs. There will be no one to rescue you. Plan on it.
6. Stock pile meds you must have to stay alive and healthy. The most terrifying is insulin for diabetics. Make a good friend of your pharmacist and even discuss this with him if he is open to such issues. After an EMP someone needs to break into the nearest pharmacy and take insulin for any diabetics in your family. Minimize doses to make the supply last as long as possible. Absolute law for diabetics..... NO CHEATING.
7. Take stock of animals in your area that you could shoot for food. This includes stray dogs and pets that wander. Stock pile dried meat. Stock pile canned food, flour, sugar, salt, beans, and other essentials. Plan, and use a fire pit or device for cooking with wood or coal.
8. If you are mechanical, get a back up computer for you car. There are usually three, one for the engine, one for the transmission, and one for the instruments. You will need all three. If you replace the dead ones killed by the EMP, do not tell ANYONE your car runs. Only use it for emergencies. If the police see you driving around, they will confiscate your car for their own use. If you car survives the EMP, which is possible in some case, be heavily armed as you drive it around. Shoot to kill because cars will be worth their weight in gold. If you can afford it, buy an old beater from pre-1974 that runs well. Keep it healthy by driving it a bit. It will not be fried in an EMP. Try to keep neighbors from knowing about it if you want to keep it for survival later. To make sure you car is not stolen, jack it up, take off the wheels, and set it on concrete blocks.
9. Store table salt and toilet paper to use in bartering. They will not invite thieves like gold and silver, but everyone will not have them and be willing to trade food for them. Get a supply of batteries for devices you must have to survive. Buy a solar battery charger. Do not buy cheap on this.
10. Prepare your wife and kids to mentally throw themselves on the Lord completely instead of panic. Teach your sons and daughters over ten to shoot a gun. Teach them to read and listen to sign, meaning to detect danger by savvy looking and listening. Be ready to feed the starving, but do not invite them into your home. Have a second person on hand with a gun if you feed needy people.
11. Clear your property of blinds and hiding spots that could be used by marauders. Post signs making it clear you will kill any trespassers. Get two dogs. One is not enough. Get a long haired sneaky breed and a short haired bull dog. They work together to attack from front and rear.
12. Buy a large metal trash can from Lowes, line it with one inch foam, and wrap all the electronics you want to survive the EMP in towels and pile them in the can. Put the lid on, and tape around the edge with aluminum tape. This is known as a Faraday Cage. Be sure to have a battery operated AM radio in the can. Ideally, buy a short wave radio and long wire antennae so you can listen to nations around the world to see what happened. An AM radio will tell you at once that an EMP took you down because there will be no stations on the air after the attack. You may get Mexico at night on AM if you or a friend speak Spanish.
13. You will read in some articles that the US Military claims to have all their equipment and facilities hardened against EMP attacks. This points out how the Government looks our for themselves and leaves the people to die of starvation. But, I do not have any hope in the US Military. What will they do after they use up all their food and fuel? Who do they think will be able to support them financially and with personnel after an EMP? They will find that they can do little of nothing to really help Americans survive. They have no food stored for you and me. Do not plan on any government or police to help you. The police are not prepared for this.
14. Law and order- You will be the enforcer. Do some thinking about your neighbors. Are any of them highly lawless. You may have to forcefully threaten these people, and if they commit deadly offences, you will need to execute them, maybe before they do you harm. There will be no other law in a total crisis, and you cannot possibly take prisoners. Remember, this advice is ONLY for a total melt down of all social order as we know it.
The second most terrifying thing would be that millions of miles of heavy current high wires would have been literally turned to molten aluminum or vaporized by an EMP. All of these wires would have to be rehung.
So, what are the chances of being hit by an EMP? The truth is, pretty good. China and Russia most certainly have them, and Iran might, and there is a slim chance North Korea does. I believe Iran is the real monster here. They hate us and will destroy us whenever they can. It is a matter of religious zeal to please Allah and bring in the return of the Islamic Madhi (Messiah). A joint effort is also possible. I read all sorts of commentary about Kim Jong Il and how his mind works. I find it highly amusing to imagine some Gringo sits in Washington DC and knows how that lunatic thinks. The history of Asia tells me that they have a history of mad men like Genghis Khan who do mad things on a whim.
