Isaiah 30:18 And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.
19 For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee.
20 And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers:
21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
Is it evil to look back? No, but ONLY in rejoicing at the victories and blessing God has given you. That is what Thanksgiving is all about.
But, there is another looking back. This is the look back at better times and the good life while the present seems troublesome and trying. This is only discouraging. The present is here by the sovereign act of God himself, and he allowed it because he prepared you for it.

So, what has God given you to do for him?
I did not ask you what GREAT thing God has for you. You are not called to be great. You are not called to make America or any earthly nation great. In fact, you are not called to grow a great local church.
You are called to be faithful, and when you become totally satisfied with being faithful to God by exalting Christ whenever and wherever you can, it WILL be a beautiful day.
1 Corinthians 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
