Maria is rolling along the north coast of The Dominican Republic. The computer models all have Maria turning north and hanging out in the Atlantic. But, the upper level winds are moving to the southwest.
I don't understand how these hurricanes decide which way to turn. It would seem to me that the winds would take Maria over Haiti and into the Caribbean and the Gulf.

I called Irma wrong, so I will decline to make a prediction again. It just seems like the big push is toward the southwest.
