EACH EFFORT TO STOP THE LEAD MAKES IT WORSEAND THE WELL HEAD COULD BLOW CAUSING A GREAT INCREASE ON BLOW OFF.
The long and short of this horror story is that the methane lead could increase, but worse, one spark caused while trying to stop the leak could ignite the methane causing a huge fire ball. No one talks about what would happen next from the burned gas coming down on San Fernando Valley.
This may turn out to be one of those monster that will not go away and cannot be tamed. And, for the record, I have seen no news that radioactivity tests have been done to the gas.
