UPDATE REASONING
I want to repost a whole former blog post, something I have only done once before. The reason is that the two stories in the post happen to have been located only 10 miles apart, and there is a very real possibility that they are linked.
The key to this question of interconnection of the events is that crude oil is converted to gases of various types as the heat around the oil deposit in the ground rises. At the highest temperatures, the gas created by cooking the oil is methane, which is the gas leaking from the pipes in the oil field above Porter Ranch, CA. Is it leaking from pipes, or did methane use a well as a pathway to vent off?
What could cause such high heat BELOW GROUND and make vast amounts of methane out of crude oil?
ANSWER: If the nuclear facility, which ran out of control in 1959 in Santa Susana Nuclear facility, dropped one or more fuel rods, as happened in Plant 3 in Fukushima, then the lost rods would have been burning their way into the earth from then until now and for many more years.

There is NO way the US Government would admit they lost any nuclear fuel rods. This creates panic and cannot be fixed, nor can the consequences be predicted. Nuclear fuel in such a situation is far hotter than thermite, and it would melt and consume everything around it.
Thus, with only 10 miles between the oil field methane leak, and the nuclear research site, any lost fuel rods could easily have burned into the oil pool far beneath the surface, and the extreme heat would become a virtual oil refinery in the earth producing massive amounts of methane.
This is why the oil company cannot fix the leak. The methane needs to blow off, and if they stop the present leak, the methane will find another way out of the ground.
I admit up front that this is speculation, but based on the FACT that the US Government has become absolutely rampant with lies and cover ups in recent years, and with the corruption between oil companies and government, there is no way this would be told if I am right. The lies by the government about nuclear situations is patently well known.
QUESTION: Has anyone checked the leak point for radioactivity? The methane leak could be far worse than thought if it is dumping radioactive material all over the LA area. Also, can the methane ignite and send radioactive carbon monoxide downwind?

I do not have the numbers of readers that famous Amos blog posters have, so someone reading this who has friends in San Fernando Valley needs to put them onto it. They need to demand independent radioactivity testing, of the methane gas and at its point of origin, be done at once.

A no fly zone has been designated, reportedly anywhere below 2000 feet over the leak. This is possibly because a jet plane sucking the methane into the engines would experience the engine exploding from being over charged with additional gaseous fuel.
The main health hazard associated with methane is that it is highly combustible. Mixtures of 5 to 15 percent methane in air can be explosive. Also, large concentrations of methane in enclosed areas can lead to suffocation as large amounts of methane will decrease the amount of available oxygen in the air. The effects of oxygen deficiency are nausea, headaches, dizziness, and unconsciousness.
If you watched the whole video you now know that you live in a very corrupt nation of wicked fools who kill on a regular basis and have ways to lie and cover up. Whether or not you and your kids suffer horribly is nothing to these creeps. This is why I keep telling you that the best thing that could happen to America would be to see God destroy the national structure as we know it and return us to some form of simple life.
You people in Southern California need to understand that you are in peril. This is not only from methane leaks and nuclear contamination. You are in grave peril of government officials and agencies who lie lie lie, and they do so knowing people will die and suffer because they lied.
California is dangerous for your health. They are presently covering up the radioactivity in Southern California from the ocean which was derived from Fukushima, which is ongoing and will not go away for many years.
This also applies to the whole United States of America. We are not living under a government which lies all the time, sometimes when the truth would serve them better. Their instinct in the face of dangers to Americans is to lie at once.
So, what state has the best record for telling the truth? Who knows, but I sure hope it is Texas.
If you live in California I would suggest you at once make arrangements to move to some other part of the USA, or leave the nation entirely. California has many other issues which you who live there know well. If you come to Texas, please leave your fair haired feely feely social consciousness at the border, and bring your gun. In Texas you are expected to participate in your own sustenance and self-defense. If you come here looking for welfare, you will starve. If you want a job and pay your own way in life, Texas is a great opportunity.

HERE ARE THE YOUNG TURKS ON THE METHANE LEAK
Methane is created by the breakdown of organic matter and by inefficient burning. Methane is highly flammable, and this is said to be one of the panic responses by the gas company. A no fly zone has been designated, reportedly anywhere below 2000 feet over the leak. Methane gas or vapor is heavier than air and may travel a considerable distance to a source of ignition and flash back to a leak or open container. Gas or vapor may accumulate in hazardous amounts in low-lying areas especially inside confined spaces, resulting in a health hazard. Can displace oxygen in the air, causing suffocation. Can be ignited by a static charge. This could start a real holocaust in the upscale community of Porter Ranch if lightning were to strike the area of the leak.
However, the Environmental Protection Agency admitted in 1998 that methane and other such organic gases have not been well tested as to health risk, to the assurances of methane having no long term health effects are probably a case of governmental whistling in the dark.
Based on current data, methane does not seem to have any long-term, or chronic, health effects. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health lists no effects of long-term or repeated exposure to methane, but states that no information about its potential to cause cancer or birth defects is available. No Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards or regulations are listed regarding methane exposure.
A typical fart is composed of about 59 percent nitrogen, 21 percent hydrogen, 9 percent carbon dioxide, 7 percent methane and 4 percent oxygen. Only about one percent of a fart contains hydrogen sulfide gas and mercaptans, which contain sulfur, and the sulfur is what makes farts stink. Because of the content of hydrogen and methane, human farts are flammable.
SoCal Gas is still “not sure of the exact location of the leak,” a spokesman said, “but suspects it is within a shallow level — within the first several hundred feet of the 8,700-foot well.”
With the goal of stopping the leak as quickly as possible, the company is creating a secondary relief well as backup to its ongoing drilling operation.

So, unless there are other chemical gases laced into the leak the long term effects are nil. But, the short term effects can be deadly from both fry explosions head ache and nausea and suffocation.
What is the prognosis for San Fernando?
Pray that the methane leak site does not catch fire. Methane produces loads of carbon monoxide when it burns, and THAT is deadly and DOES have long term health effects.
It is very clear from official responses that the leak at Porter Ranch in San Fernando, California may very well continue for years, or until the gas runs out in the ground. The effect must be, then, that San Fernando, and possibly other areas, will suffer issues from health to depopulation to real estate collapse from this leak.
Also, as the Young Tuks video shows, there are other very deadly gases in this gas plume. The officials want to only talk about methane because it is the least deadly.
