I love this story. This is the justice from long ago.
There was a Black judge in a town in the San Joaquin Valley back in the 1970s who would mete out reparations as justice. If a kid broke an old lady's window, the kid might have to mow her grass for several months. This Black American judge was famous in his home town because the trouble makers were rare. They knew they would be terribly embarrassed working in some yard for months as they friends drove by.
What happened? Someone in the town was given reparations by the judge, and he sewed in Federal Court. The Federal Court handed down the ruling that reparations could not be used. All crimes must be paid for by jail or prison time.
Thus, it is delightful to see jolly old England still recognizing the effectiveness of reparations. And, I think, if he is watching, Moses must be pleased also.
